A metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable. For example, 'she is the apple of my eye'. That's another way of saying, she's all I really care about, no one else but her. Symbolism is the use of symbols to represent ideas or qualities. For example, a heart. A heart is a symbol for love. Right when you see a heart shape you instantly think the heart has to do with love. Now if you see an actual heart that belongs in a humans body it just simply means an organ that you need in order to be alive.
Describe: In this photograph there are civilians putting flowers inside the guns. The guns that maybe military police are holding. The Military police are wearing armor. And the photograph is in black and white.
Analyze: The photo is a high angle because it looks like the photographer is above them. The photo is in black and white with a slow shutter speed. Slow shutter speed is making it look blurry but still a bit clear. And there is a little bit of rule of thirds. The flower is right wear the grid would be, making it rule of thirds. Interpret: The photographer is probably trying to show us that we need to have peace and love, by putting flowers in the guns. And by doing that they use civilians putting the flowers into the guns. To show that they want the peace. Judge: The photographer shows love and peace in a different way. Making it easier for us to tell what is happening. I like this photo, although I think the shutter speed should be a bit higher so that it wont be as blurry. Henri Cartier Bresson’s photos are very well taken. I love how he was able to capture moments that weren’t meant to be captured. It makes the images seem more realistic and much more fun to figure out what’s happening in the picture. Although it was a little hard to figure out why he took the pictures he did. My favorite would have to be the one with the girl and boy sleeping. I could tell they weren’t posing for the picture. The settings looked as if they were in a train on they’re way to somewhere far. A candid photograph is a photograph captured mostly in motion, without creating a posed appearance. This is achieved by avoiding prior preparation of the subject and by either surprising the subject or by not distracting the subject during the process of taking photos.
Many photographers like to use shutter speed to capture something that's moving fast. There are two different types of capturing that perfect image that you're looking for. There is freezing action that makes everything still and no show of movement at all. But before you start taking your pictures you have to plan. So that way you know how and where you are going to do it.
Then there is motion blur. Motion blur captures the movement that's going on in the photograph. Like when you have moving lights in your picture they will come out and make the picture look like its moving. When you're freezing something it’s hard to tell whether or not you're just posing or if it's actually happening. White Balance removes color that doesn't look real. Mostly on something that is white. By choosing manual you'd get a better shot, it would fix the white making it look more realistic.
Auto is where the camera makes its best guess on how to take the photo. Flash warms up your pictures making them a bit darker or brighter. Shade makes it look much brighter, some photographers like that bright look For this project, I chose a bright blue flower for my eye because I like to look at blue flowers. I chose the misfits face because The Misfits are one of my favorite bands. And for my hair I chose to do the city that never sleeps, Las Vegas. Las Vegas is one of my favorite places to go to either during the summer or winter. I chose the flower with a skull on my heart because I can be delicate, and have my evil ways. The background is of me, a picture I took of myself using my phone.
This project, The Best Part of Me was a project assigned to me so I could figure out what I thought was the best part of myself. Photograph it, and put it in black and white, then after writing a poem about my favorite part. At first it was kind of difficult. I had trouble with taking the pictures of myself with a big Nikon camera. So I had to take many in order to get the right shot. I think the Rules of Compositions were useful in the project. I used Leaving Space and Background. I think I did very well on this project. I found it fun and new. A little difficult but I got it right.
